The Autonomous Organization (AO)

This page will present a series of chapters and articles about the state of the automated organization (AO), e.g., the autonomous company (AC) or the self-running business (SRB). Whatever you call it, AI-enabled automation and analytics are rapidly transforming how modern organizations operate.  Here, we will examine how the autonomous organization (AO) concept is evolving. We use the terms organization, business, enterprise, entity, and company synonymously. The history, current state, opportunities, challenges, technologies, risks, and futures will be explored. We will attempt to go beyond the tried-and-true automation of structured, repetitive tasks to see if automation of unstructured white-collar and management functions can now be accomplished to some degree. Ultimately, we will present a viable architectural framework and a high-level roadmap to the autonomous enterprise (AE).
